  1. I do not think absolutism would be a good form of government this is because of the freedom rights. Anything Louis wanted went. Yes i believe if we had there economy and power that would be great. But for us in America we need our rights. Louis i feel would turn and we may be slaves or something of that kind. In some ways i believe that it would be a good form of government but in other cases i don't think that form of government would last.

  2. Absolutism would not be a good form of government in my opinion, since we would not be able to express our thoughts and our ideas on what should change in our government, what needs to be improved, etc. However having an absolute monarchy, would make it a lot easier to respond to emergency situation without having to have a debate, and include everyone's thoughts. However being an American, i believe that having freedom is a key component to a successful government.

  3. i believe that absolutism could be a good form of government. but no it really cant be because when one person has all of the power in the government and has all of the power over the army that means that they can do what ever they want. but what they want to do isnt always the smartest idea and it could do more damage then it actually helps. and it only really takes one person to take an entire government down. to be honest absolutism isnt a good form of government, it could only be good if the person that is in charge is actually capable of making good smart choices.

    1. I agree because One person having too much power can destroy everything past rulers have built up to make a society complete. Also the only way it can work is if the ruler is sensible and wise enough to make the right choices that will benefit everyone.

    5. I completely agree, when it comes to absolutism it all depends on the person in charge whether it's a good government or not.

  4. In my opinion, I feel that Absolutism wouldn't be a good form of government because not one person should be able to have full control over people. It is unfair for someone to enforce how people should live their live and make them believe in one set idea. By having complete control over the government, army, religion, and people there is no balance of power. Which could lead to corruption and negative effects to the people within that nation. For instance the ruler could make a unjust decision which could destroy all the people and the fall of the nation to a more powerful forces. Which exactly happened to Philip II when his armada tried to attack England. So this government does more bad than good for people.

  5. I don't think absolutism would be a good form of government because it indicates that one person has the right to full authority. And, although we learned in class that things get done faster, that's not always a good thing if irrational decisions are being made. However, having every citizen come together to discuss an issue might also be catastrophic, but the concept of a democracy is still more mindful than that of a dictatorship.

  6. I think that absolutism is a bad form of government mainly because giving one person the power to control people's lives is way to risky. I do think that sometimes it could be good sometimes because their wouldn't be any disagreements. I believe that the people should be able to have freedom of religion and not have to be told what is the right god or gods to worship. One person having that much control over a nation could only hurt the people more than it could actually help them. Like during Phillip II reign when his armada made attempts to try and tack England and this was all based on a unthought out decision.

  7. I don't think absolutism is a good form of government because that means that only one person gets power. Though thats sometimes a good think like in school, its not a good way to form a government because then people won't have freedom of speech.

  8. I think that absolutism is bad because giving so much power and responsibilities for one person can cause a lot of chaos and may not go as smoothly as it would if each person in so say a group of people could work together and have there own responsibilities, things will get done better. I think personally everything would go wrong if there was only one person with all the power. I believe absolutism will not be a good form of government.

    1. Rachel i agree because like Charles the first he has stirred up chaos when he has decided to get rid of the parliament. It will also limit opinions from the people which will also have a negative effect

  9. I think that absolutism wouldn't be good for the government because of all the power that one person gets. When putting someone under so much pressure about having to be in charge of this this and that it starts to form craziness and nothing would be able to get done the way its suppose to.

  10. I think absolutism is a bad form of government because of the amount of power. If someone is given a ton of power, and is the ruler of the people, it could be catastrophic. There should be restrictions to someones power. Not an unlimited power with not consequences.

I don't think absolutism is a great system of government because like when Charles the first took over power in England , he has dissolved the parliament because of this a lot of conflict has risen in England which led to the Glorious Revolution. In conclusion absolutism is a bad form of government in my opinion.

  12. I feel that Absolutism is a very bad form of government. If a ruler of a country were to have too much power, all the power could go to the rulers head. If all the power goes to the rulers head, that ruler could lose control, and the country could start to rebel.

  13. I feel that absolutism is a bad form of government. If a ruler in a country has absolute power, then the people wouldn't have any rights, and it would cause revolutions throughout the country. Power should be evenly distributed in a government. If there is not a balance of power in a government, then there wouldn't be order in a society.

  14. I feel that absolutism would be a bad form of government. Since we chose our president we have given him our full trust to run our government, yet we still have rights. But those rights give us freedom to be who want to be. While under absolutism we would be no balance in power and it wouldn't be fair to any one of us. Without balance our government would be shut down. Oh wait it is !

  15. No I believe absolutism would not be a good form of government. One person alone does not have the best interest for everyone in a whole country. That is really a dictatorship, not just one person should decide whats right, they should be supported by a group of people to balance out different ideas and interests in what is right for there country.

    1. It is true that ruler might not have the best interest of their country in mind, but their are greater possibilities of making advances within in the country. There is potential, although undeniable flaws.

  16. I believe that absolutism would not be a good form of government. I believe this because I don't think it's fair that one person has rule over everyone. The people living under that rule should have some say in what goes on in their government. The ruler may have different opinions towards things that the people living under the rule would have. I feel like people would retaliate against the ruler if they don't like what he is enforcing. The whole system would just be completely messed up.

  17. Absolutism is not a sufficient form of government because no one person should have control over every decision. This is basically a form of a dictatorship. If that one person that has full control makes irrational decisions or decisions that arent in the best interest of the people then the whole country is effected. With multiple branches of government you have multiple people having different opinions and taking the peoples opinions into consideration.

  19. I believe that absolutism would not be a good form of government because I don't thik its a good idea whn all the power goes to one person. When one person tends to have so much responsibility they tend to act and make impulse decisons which are not always the best ideas. I agree with James when he says if the ruler of a country has absolute power then the people have no rights which would cause riots. If people can't express there opnion on what law's, rules they have to follow then they will begin to fight the king and have no choice but to force there opnions to be heard.

    1. i disagree that there would be riots because the purpose of stating that you have absolute power is to prevent any ruler to be overthrown under this type of government. also i disagree that only one person can make impulsive decisions because a group can act as one under the same belief and make impulsive decisions as well.

  20. Although absolutism can be a good form of government in certain situations, I believe that a person having too much power can lead to madness. Leaving power in one persons hands would mean that the people would have no say in decisions. Spain declined after 1600 because of the economy and bad government a.k.a absolutism. Also if the ruler who has the power isn't great it can lead to a decline because it has no opinions from other people and guidance

  21. I don't agree that absolutism as a form of government because one persons opinion might not be beneficial for everyone else. One person shouldn't have the say in what everyone else does, it should either be a choice or a democracy. They might have factors that could involve the decisions that they make and change there point of vie on things.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't think that absolutism is a good form of government because one person shouldn't be making every decision for a given country. I think it would be a better form of government if more people were involved like parliament or congress. When one person makes every decision for a country you tend to make mistakes and can screw up a country and you can also not always think things through like you would be able to in a government of more than one person.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't think absolutism is good for government because I think that more then one person should decide on what's good for the state and it would give a wider range of options to choose from because its not only just one mind speaking its 5 or 6 or more. If one person would make a decision it would put a lot of stress on that one person and it would probably cause them to make a wrong decision and the outcome wouldn't be to good. It could destroy the whole country

  25. I believe that Absolutism would be a good form of government. I feel this way because if there was another party in power as well as a king/Queen there can potentially be divergence within the people in power, which can ultimately cause many problems within the empire. Also in a government such as a democracy people feel entitled to put their input in everything and they feel as if they're entitled to their own opinions which can wreak havoc in an empire if they don't particularly agree with the ruling. Absolutism can either be very good or very bad. I feel it really depends on the person who is ruling. For example if they do things solely for the benefit of themselves it wouldn't be favorable, however if you had a selfless humble ruler who really cared about the well being of his empire and everyone in it, it would be a good thing.

  26. I don't think that absolutism is a good form of government because I really don't believe that one person should be making all the decisions for whatever country. I believe that it would make a better form of government if more people were involved in making the decisions just like parliament. When you give one person the responsibility to make all decisions for a country they tend to make mistakes or make decisions out of anger and do horrible things to your own country or another country. It is better to have a group of people vote on one decision rather than one person, because in that case it would be a group of people that feel like whatever their decision is, is the right decision.

  30. I believe that absolutism isn't a good form of government. I think that because only one person dictates everything and not only one person can always control something the right way. And yes with a little experience if running things by myself it takes a longer time but gets done right but, with people it's a lot quicker and different ideas come about!

  31. I strongly believe that absolution is the most unethical form of government , The reason for my belief is that if only one person rules over a nation its a form of dictatorship and this can be disasters in a nation because one leader can make many un thoughtful mistake ruining the country. There's no I in team

  32. I do not think that absolutism is a good form of government because one person shouldn't control everything. They're should be more people that are involved to help with making these decisions because what if that one person makes a derision on how they feel about a country like they start a war with them because the person didn't like that country or something. If theirs one person in control their will probably be so many mistakes that, that one person does. If you have more people helping then there would be less mistakes and probably better decisions being made.

Catherine the great, peter the great, and other monarch rulers had been able to improve on education, the arts, security, and agriculture because there was no other group or groups involved to disagree on the decisions.

  35. explain whether or not you believe absolutism can be a good form of government.

Absolutism is definitely NOT a good form of government because All power would go to one individual, thus not being shared equally. people would not have a voice in society to express themselves, and everyone would have to abide by that individuals laws.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I do believe if it's done right, abolitionism could be an okay form of government, but more times than not, it will end up being a disaster, as it did with Louis XIV. He did it wrong in the way that he forced religion upon people like the Huguenots, and we know from history, that forcing religion upon unwilling groups of people will only cause revolt and repression, as it did lead to several small battles and wars between France and places like England. I think that for one person to have all of the power, it takes a lot of dedication and diligence, which Louis did have, but the availability of money and luxuries readily disposable can turn anyone's good intention into big mistakes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Absolutism would not be a good form of government because I think that just by one person deciding on everything, won't allow him/her to consult with someone else who might have a better idea than them. Their idea might make more sense than the king/queen.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I believe that Absolutism wouldn't be a good form of government because one person shouldn't be making all of the decisions for us. If some rules they are suppose to be making decisions for the better, but if we dot get a say in what we want then we aren't in control. It shouldn't be a dictatorship, it should be about the people. Yes if one person rules decisions would be made faster but faster is not always better. You could take the government shut down for example. If the decision was made by one person, it would be faster but who knows if it would have been right. Plus if there is more people in a government then it can help other people with their opinions.

  39. I believe that absolutism is a good form of government. The entire government is ruled by one person which makes it more effective of things getting done. People like Catherine the Great and many more all used this form of government, and all successfully ruled their empires. The only thing with this type of government is that everything is under the ruler’s hands, meaning if they mess up the whole government is going to fall with them. And in some circumstances it may be unfair because people may not agree with their ruler, but would have no choice.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I believe that absolutism was not a good form of government. This is because when all the power is centered around one person there are no says other than him/herself. Also the people or the rest of society must deal with whatever someone else decides for everyone. I also feel that since power is in the hands of only one person things would not get done at efficiently as power being spread out through many branches of officials with some amount of power in his/her own category of law.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think that absolutism could be a great way of government if the one controlling all the power is a GOOD ruler that listens to the people and puts their thoughts into his/her power to action. That way there is a peaceful well governed society.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Absolutism has the potential to be a good form of government aside from the fact that it can lead to malicious rulers. Through absolutism many of the laws and actions needed could take effect more expeditiously. This versus other forms of government where you'd need to have laws and commands to be approved by another group could possibly take up vital time and lead to disastrous results. On the other hand, we hold the most popular fault of absolutism, its concentration of power on to one person. With power centered around an individual, it could be the place for a ruler who's intentions stray towards personal interests rather than the well being of their people and land.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't think that absolutism is good form of government because one person shouldn't have all the power, it should be spread equally. If one person makes all the decisions they can easily make selfish choices that are not beneficial to the rest of the people.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think that absolutism is not a good form of government because only one person has all the power when it should be everyone having a say in how the country is ran. Also the person in charge might make decisions only beneficial to themselves and not everyone as a whole. This type of government would not be fair and equal to everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  46. i don't think absolutism would be a good form of government due to the fact that one person shouldn't have all of the intended power. Everyone should be treated equally. What happens with the country is in the hand of someone personal opinions on what should be done.

  47. I think that absolutism is a horrible form of government because a corrupt leader can easily do whatever they want without caring about the effects it has on the people.By having complete control over the government, army, religion, and people there is no balance of power. Which could lead to corruption and negative effects to the people within that nation.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Absolutism wouldn't be a good government because of the meaning behind it. Meaning that one can have complete power would cause lots of chaos. There would just be a bunch of hard-headed control freaks within the government which would cause the nation it's over to fail, not succeed.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Absolutism wouldn't be good for the government because all power would go to that one person in charge. If one person had all the power, stupid mistakes would be made because other people wouldn't have a say and if the ruler is wrong about a certain task and another person was, it could lead into a disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I do not think absolutism is a good form of government mainly because its a very unfair form of power, the power belongs only to the leader, and the leader only, and he basically says, everything is mine, and you will work for me as i tell you to, the people didnt have any say in government related things and didnt get to choose who they would like for leader, which was the cause of the governments down fall.

  51. I don't think that absolutism is a good form of government only because I don't think one person should rule. I feel as though a government should be equal and fair where everyone can have a word. If one person rules, sure things would get done faster, but not always better. Also that one rules might not have the people in there mind but they might be doing things to benefit himself. The idea of one person in power can drive that person crazy and cause ca yous

  53. Absolutism would be a good form of government because sometimes there is not enough time to go through everyone's opinion and although it is risky to have all power in one person things would be done much quicker and thoroughly.

  54. Absolutism would generally not be a good form of government. The distribution of power would resolve solely in one persons hands, which denies any sense of outside guidance. Although, most would see this as negative. If one persons sole judgement was morally and politically correct, it could be a very easy way to achieve greatness in government.
