1) Using the ideas and knowledge gained from your study of the enlightenment and absolutism, describe your ideal form of government. Be sure to credit any philisophe who's ideas you borrow.
2) Evaluate at least one other person's ideal form of government.
After my studies of the Enlightenment and Absolutism , what I think the best form of government is democracy. I think Democracy is the best because according to the theory of John Locke and Baron de Montesquieu , a well developed government should grant the laws of people that they are born with and they should have separate branches to equal each other out with their own branches power.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think what makes a well developed government is when there isn't one person making important decisions that affect so many people and not having other opinions on a choice.
DeleteI also agree with you Simon. When one person is making the decisions, it will be very one sided and nothing would be fair. Also people have different ways of thinking and if these points are brought up, a new and better law can be made in favor of the people.
DeleteI agree. A Democracy is much more a well and strong government having one person having rule over many wouldn't be as fair too a group of people thinking and taking power together.
DeleteFrom the knowledge that I've gathered from studying the the Age of Enlightenment I believe that the best form of Government is democracy. I think that a democratic government is the most beneficial to the citizens of that state or country. Like John Locke said the government's main purpose is to protects the citizens natural rights. According to John Locke natural rights were life, liberty and health. A democratic government gives the people a voice in the government letting them decide what laws are most profitable to them. Oppose to an absolute monarchy where there is no options just the law of having to accept everything that your ruler wants you to do.
ReplyDeleteI agree. In this form of government people are actively involved in the government and allowed to make change that will prevent the government from getting too corrupt. Also it protects the power from being in control of only one.
DeleteFollowing the knowledge and information I gained from studying Absolutism and Enlightenment I feel that Democracy is the ideal form of government since it gives people individual rights and freedoms. Also there is a equal balance of power in the government and it is split between three branches that check and balance each other. Three philosophers that support these theories were John Locke, Baron de Montegueu, and Voltaire.John Locke who thought people deserved natural rights and were good. Montegueu who believed in the balance of power between three branches. And finally Voltaire for his push for freedom of speech and religion. By putting these three theories together we get a government that perfectly satisfies the people and the nation.
ReplyDeleteCallie, I agree with your statement and like how you mentioned more then one philosopher because John Locke, Baron de Montegueu, and Voltaire ideas are all present in todays democracys
DeleteI agree with you Callie. I think democracy would be the ideal government, and I like how you added ideas from more than just one philosopher/thinker.
DeleteThrough my studies of Enlightenment and Absolutism, I think the best form of government is a democracy. In a democracy people outside of the government can be active in the government and speak out as to what they agree and disagree with. In other words, it gives power to the people. John Locke believes in equality and a fair government. "All mankind... being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty or possessions." John Locke
ReplyDeleteI agree with your post taytay, i think that the best form is a democratic government because we can disagree and agree with everything. :)
DeleteThrough the knowledge that i have learned of Enlightenment and absolutism my ideal form of government would be a democratic government. A democratic government would be the best type of government because everyone gets a say. They have rules and laws, and rights. People are treated equal. It gives people what they deserve. John Locke was someone who supported democracy. He though people deserved natural right and believed in a fair government with equality. Another person who supported democracy was Baron DE Montague. Baron believed in the power of three branches, like our government today. Democracy is also a good government because they let people practice their religions, and beliefs.
ReplyDeleteThroughout my studies of Enlightenment and absolutism i think the best form of government is Democracy. A Democratic government would be good because it wouldn't be one person holding all the power, it would be a group of people that would be able to have a say in it.
ReplyDeleteAfter studying Enlightenment and absolutism my ideal form of government would be a Democratic government. When having a democratic government that means that we dont have to listen to just one person thats in charge of, were all able to make a decision as a group. We also have our rights like Freedom of speech and religion. John locke was one of the persons to support the democracy .
ReplyDeleteUsing the ideas and knowledge gained from your study of the enlightenment and absolutism, describe your ideal form of government. Be sure to credit any philisophe who's ideas you borrow.
ReplyDeleteMy Ideal form of government would still be Democratic, If it weren't for many philosophers such as John Locke, There would have been a chance that people wouldn't have individual rights. I agree with the political system of Democracy because We have the freedom to give our opinions, and we have citizens have the right to choose the ruler.
I agree with simone about John Locke, because he's the reason why we have individual rights.
DeleteThee knowledge that I've gathered from has showed me that the best form of Government is democracy. This system of government is the most convenient and beneficial to the people. A lot of John Locke's ideas are present in a democracy. For example Locke said that citizens are entitled to their rights and a governement cant take that away. These were life, liberty and health.
ReplyDeletei agree with using john lockes theory of natural laws because they help the citizens and democracy is all about the citizens.
DeleteAfter learning about different governments, I feel that the best government would be a democracy. Democracies focus on the people, and really listen to what the people have to say, other than absolutism, and other governments. John Locke supports democracy, because he believes in natural laws, and a democratic government protects an individuals' natural laws.
ReplyDeleteI feel that the ideal form of government is a very debatable subject, especially after our class ironically agreed that an absolute monarch is the most effective system, however, I spent more time thinking about it and came to the conclusion that a dictatorship (favored by Thomas Hobbes, Jean Jacques, etc) has more of a chance of failing to achieve accomplishments and make progress. I say this because it is more likely that a dictator will take advantage of their power and start making irrational decisions. Therefore, a democracy is a better option because although things may get done at a slow pace, it is better than being in destructive situations.
ReplyDeleteI agree Nathella Bella, because totalitarian governments are more prone to get too used to having full authority of the people,
DeleteMy ideal form of government is democrats because it grants the people the right to liberty and justice to all,
ReplyDeleteThroughout my studies of the Enlightenment and Absolutism, I feel the best form of government is democracy.Democracy is the best because a good and strong government wouldn't be one person holding all the power, a good strong government would be a group of people that would all hold the power and have part in what goes.
ReplyDeleteThroughout the time I have been studying the Age of absolutism and the enlightenment period, It made me think about what form of government is the more preeminent among others. I feel that a democracy is the best form of government because it is the most suitable and accommodating to the peoples needs. Another reason its an ideal form of government because it doesn't deny people of their natural rights. Lastly another reason that it is successful is because their is no rebellion from the people who are under the rule because everyone is able to voice their concerns and opinions to the hierarchy so the problem can be addressed rather than to rebel against the government because of their decisions. A philosophist who's notions i agree with is John Locke. His theory is that all people are entitled to their inalienable natural rights.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Caroline John Lockes theory of natural rights is most suited for peoples needs
DeleteI also agree with with Caroline and Emily about how John Locke's natural rights theory suited the peoples needs. It gave everyone a fair chance and way of life. Everyone was equal.
DeleteThe ideal form of government in my opinion would definatley be democracy. Decisions are made fairly though the citizens on who they feel they should run the government. John Locke's theory of natural rights play a big role in democracy and help support it. Rather than a government where all decisions and the way you live your life is controlled by one person.
ReplyDeleteAfter the knowledge I gathered in class on Absolutism and Democracy my ideal form of government is a democracy. A democracy is way a better system of government because is it beneficial for the people, and in a democracy the government takes the peoples words and opinions into consideration when making decisions. A democracy also believes in Natural Rights an idea that John Locke created, a democracy also believes in a lot of the ideas that John Locke created. John Locke believed that all people are born with the rights of life, liberty and to own property.
ReplyDeleteUsing the ideas I've learned through the enlightenment section I feel my ideal form is a direct democracy. This is because it puts all the people in the government. This is also through giving them all a part in it. There is no absolute ruler giving all the people what he/she feels is right. Also this is because all disputes would be solved and all decisions would be equal and agreed upon. This is ideal government because it puts the people in power, who and which are what make up the nation
ReplyDeleteI agree because the people that are living there no what's best for themselves!
DeleteUsing what I have learned about Absolutism and Democracy, I chose democracy as the best form of government. I choose that because that protects people's natural rights. I love John Locke as a philosopher because he argued in his book "Two Treaties of Government" that people formed governments to protect their natural rights.
ReplyDeleteMy ideal form of government is democracy because it gives the people a say and a right to help the government make a stronger community for everyone. John Locke's theory is a great thing it effected this government to help give the people those natural rights he spoke about in his theory. I believe equal right is a good way to live and to represent a government as.
ReplyDeletemy ideal form of government would have to be democracy do to the fact that power is invested in the people. one characteristic that makes democracy an ideal government for me is the 3 branches. Baron De Montesquieu felt that dividing power into judicial, executive ,and legislative would prevent any absolute power and keeps balance.
ReplyDeleteI think the ideal form of government is Democracy. A Democratic government would be good because it wouldn't be one person with all the power, it would be a selective group of people that would be able to have a say in it
ReplyDeleteMy ideal form of government is definitely democracy. Based on what we have been learning in class democracy seems to be the best form of government because lots of rulers use it I think that allowing the citizens to voice their opinions on different types of issues that may affect everyone definitely makes democracy the ideal form of government. I agree with Lia who agreed with Caroline and Emily when they say that John Locke's natural rights best suited the people and fit well with democracy being the ideal form of government.
ReplyDeleteAfter studying and learning about the Enlightenment and the different forms of government i would say that my ideal form of government would be a democratic government because in a democratic government the people have a say in basically most things. I think the Philisophe John Locke idea of natural rights best fits the democratic government category.
ReplyDeleteAfter learning about the Enlightenment, I think my ideal form of government is democracy because I feel like its the most successful and most fair for the whole country. The people get a say, so it's the people's country, not just the ruler.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you Jackie, I think people should be granted the right to have a say in their government, and for it not to be controlled by only the ruler.
DeleteAfter learning about Enlightenment and absolutism in class, my ideal form of government would be democracy. This is because a lot of rulers or leaders had chose this form of government to lead there people. This also gives the people a say on maybe a problem that might happen which is also good because its fair.
ReplyDeleteThrough your teachings about the enlightenment and absolutism, I believe that the ideal form of government would be a Democracy. Even though it may be slower to make decisions they are more in the peoples favor. Where as is a absolute rule it would be fast decisions that could have been made off of impulse of rage and not meant. Its better when more people vote on something because then you have the opportunity to look at other peoples point of view and to be able to to vote out officials if there aren't doing the correct things.
ReplyDeleteand also I agree with John Lockes natural laws they are the base that democracy should be built around.
DeleteThrough my studies of Enlightenment and Absolutism, I think the best form of government is a democracy. In a democracy people that are not part of the government can be active in the government and speak out also known as Freedom of Speech. John Locke said that "All mankind being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty or possessions."
ReplyDeleteMy ideal form of government is a democracy. I think this is the more fair type of government because all the citizens get a say and have the right to vote no matter what social class they're in. John Locke supports democracy and thinks laws should be granted by the citizens.
ReplyDeletei agree with you because democracy gives more freedom to its people and more say in how things are run.
DeleteI personally think that out of all the governments iv'e studied throughout high school i would say that the best form of government is a Dictatorship because that way everybody is equal and no one is better than another.
ReplyDeletewell i think that the the enlightened despotism is the best form of government. i thin this because yeah there is one person in charge but this one person does a lot like Peter the Great and Catherine the Great they had achieved so much and accomplished a lot that other types of governments didnt and couldnt achieve.
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree with Petros because although one person is in charge, this leader can in fact gain massive amounts of power if he wants to, and no one could really stop him, if he wanted to.
DeleteWhen learning about the different governments I believe that living under a democracy would be the best choice. I think this just for the reason that, the people actually have a say in what's being done. It's not only about the ruler having complete control over everything. John Locke was one of the many englightenment thinkers that believed in democracy. He thought that people deserved their natural rights and believed in a fair government with equality.
ReplyDeleteThrough my studies of Enlightment and absolutism i believe the best form of government is democracy. I choose democracy because it gives people a say in the government and more freedom. John locke believed in democracy and how people should have natural rights and believed in a government where everything was more fair with more freedom.
ReplyDeleteI believe that democracy is the best form of government because it grants all people equal rights no matter what race or gender you are, people can have freedom to do, say, and believe what they please, and the people can participate in government.
ReplyDelete-Luciano Cardoza
After learning about the different forms of government the best system is a democracy. It gives citizens the ability to have natural equal rights for anything. It doesn't matter who you are, what you believe in, or who you love you can have rights you wouldn't have with an absolute ruler! - Luci Laut
ReplyDeleteAfter learning about the different forms of government, the best to me is a democracy. This way it gives us everybody as citizens a voice as well as natural rights for want they want and/or need in order for the nation to succeed.
ReplyDeleteAfter learning about the different forms of government from the Age of Absolutism and Enlightenment, I feel that the best form of government is a democracy, due to the fact that everyone has a part in the government, and the power is shared equally, unlike in a monarchy, where only one person has a lot of power and is able to make such irrational choices without consent from anyone.
ReplyDeleteAfter learning about the Enlightenment and the different forms of government i would have to choose democracy as a suitable form of government for me. The reason why is because the people are actually being listened to. Their voices and opinions count. The power is divided equally and everything is fair and just.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what my ideal form of government because there is no best government. however the ideal form of government should be one that protects the rights of its people as john locke stated
ReplyDeleteFrom learning about the Age of absolutism and the enlightenment period,It made me wonder and question more about each form of government. I feel that a democracy is the the best form of government besides from it being a ideal form of government it, but because it gives people the rights they deserve, and causes no problems, because everyone is able to have there own say in what rules there are. Like John Locke, which his belief that all people are entitled to their rights which they deserve.
ReplyDeleteMy thought of a ideal form of governments that the government should be opened to ideas from the people and try its best in giving its people and safe and fair environment to have, give its people freedom, and a say in government topics, grant laws to keep peace and order as well, this is democracy.
ReplyDeleteThroughout the time we studied the Enlightment and Absolutism, my opinion that the best form of government is Democracy. Democracy is the best form of government because all citizens have a saying in what should be done instead of one person having all the saying and power.
ReplyDeletefrom the knowledge that I've gained from the study of the enlightenment and absolutism my ideal form of government would be a democracy. I think democracy would be the best form of government because it give everyone there natural rights, just how john Locke would have wanted it. It doesn't let one person rule, cause if one person did rule I believe that ca yous would be everywhere. Democracy gives balance to the world so that one everyone has a say in government.
ReplyDeleteAfter my studies of the Enlightenment and Absolutism , I think the best form of government is democracy. I think Democracy is the best because according to the theory of John Locke and Baron de Montesquieu , a well developed government should grant the people a say in their government and they should have separate branches to equal each other out with their own branches power.
ReplyDeleteAfter a thorough analysis of the enlightenment and Absolutism, I believe that the best form of government is indeed democracy, just because of the fact that there is more freedom and highly mattered opinions. According to John Locke, a very influential philosopher during the Enlightenment, a well developed government should grant people a say in their government and believed in man's utmost freedoms.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the best form of government is democracy, because there is more freedom and opinions are taken into consideration. There should be a government that grants people a say.
ReplyDeleteAfter our learning about the Enlightenment and Absolutism, i do believe that the best form of government would be a Dictatorship. Its quick, and efficient, and usually gets things done for the better. Us as Americans, have a common misunderstanding for dictatorships, usually based on the pass misfortunes of other Dictators. Such as Hitler, however his motives were not all there. If we were to elect a proper Dictator, who had no sense of Bias and outside rule, we could achieve greatness as a society and obtain political upheaval.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the speed of Dictatorship is a plus to its way of dishing out actions, but with so many variables put in our world, even if our first ruler is honorable and kind ruler, the next may not be.
DeleteFrom what I have learned about Absolutism and Enlightenment I believe that mash of different methods from several types of government would work to create a fair yet efficient government. We have the very famous John Locke's basic ideas of natural rights that belong to the people, which are in all essential to maintaining a degree of happiness among the people. Now we cannot proceed from here without acknowledging Thomas Hobbes idea of the selfishness and greed that drives people, if it weren't for this evil drive within people there wouldn't even be a necessity for governing. For a government to run smoothly we need to establish a very well defined line between itself and religion. The ups and down of many civilizations have tainted with the rebellion of religious groups who do not accept someone as a ruler because of their beliefs. Leading to decline of their economies, deterioration of social structures, civil war, massacres by the thousands of people because the government or ruler does not see eye to eye with the religion. To summarize, my ideal government would be a consul of the wisest proven elders within the community who are advised by a second group. This consul would make final decisions upon what they see fit after a discreet vote made by the people. Almost like a direct democracy? No government can be utterly flawless, there is always greed for riches or just the essence of power.
