Blog # 24 - A new government in Germany

1) Read the following Program written by the Nationalist Socialist Party (Nazis). The document lists everything that the Nazi party wanted when they came to power

http://fcit.usf.edu/holocaust/resource/document/PROGRAM.htm

2) Answer the following questions:
      a) Do you think these are reasonable demands? Why or why not?
      b) Respond to one other person by agreeing or disagreeing with them and explain why.

  1. I think these demands are not reasonable because the Nazi party wants all Germans to be at work mentally and physically. People need to have fun once in a while. Also that people who get money from anywhere other than working must be taken away. People should get to keep their money. However they got it.

    1. I agree, I think that it was unfair to force the Jews to live in such awful conditions just because they were jewish. It was also unfair to use the Jews as a form of slavery and having someone constantly work day after day is just a heinous act.

  2. a) I think these rights are reasonable because they're fair and give people equals rights. Even the ones that don't necessarily give everyone equality are still just and right and have a good reason to not give equality.

    1. i disagree because if they really wanted equality, they would not deny ones privilege of being a citizen or country man because of his or her backgrounds. The first rights of people are to work, rather than life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Equality is somewhat delineated, however they aren't reasonable due to the self-selfishness of the country.

  3. The demands written by the Nazis are completely inhumane. The things written in this article are not things that humans should live under by any means. It is controlling the people at a extreme level, resulting in the people having no rights, mind, and individuality. The Germans believe that they are the highest power, that anybody who does not have the same ethnicity as them is lower. They want control of the newspaper, religion, and other natural rights that we all should have. I believe this is a wrong act since it put humans in a controlled and secluded environment, giving them no voice, and no life of there own.

  4. I agree that they were being "hypocritical" since they said the people could have freedom of there religion however they didn't let Jew freely practice their's.

  5. I don't believe these are reasonable demands because they are demands that will lead to fascism

  6. I believe that the Nazi demands were unnecessary, unrealistic, and completely unjustifiable. The demands were just a way to give them the highest power they could possible reach and is just an act of extreme fascism. They wanted these demands in efforts towards total world takeover.

  7. Demands can only be reasonable if they are either benefiting all people included in the array of rules, or benefiting no one at all. The denying of ones right to became a noble country man shouldn't be determined by their race, or religious background. Your taking any sense of individuality a person has and labeling them for the rest of their lives as different, or not normal. Another reason proving the unjustifiable law would be the removal of a normal army, and replacing it with a nationalist army. Army's are created in oath to swear to protect ones country, not to support or cause unnecessary wars. Nationalism is already an extremely powerful and power manipulated thing, and to make an army supporting this way of thinking can only lead to catastrophic downfalls and turmoil. Large industries shouldn't be entitled to give back to anyone, the country did not help them succeed, and its basically another form of implying taxes, but at a higher cost. Instead of taxing the citizens, they are taxing Industries which would cause less of a productivity rate in the work force, which gives back less to the Country. Overall, the demands of the Nationalist Socialist Party are morally and politically incorrect.

  8. No i do not believe in these demands. If these demands were to be approved it would only benefit Germany. While stealing land from other countries. If they were approved Germany would have way to much power and another catastrophe would most likely occur. All the the Nazis wanted was absolute control. Religion would be taken away from individuals their own voice and their right to speak up. He wanted to rise above everyone else in order to be the superior country which is nor right at all~

  9. I believe that these demands were quite unjust. These demands benefited Germany mainly. These demands will lead to the lack of individuality and the rights of the people in societies. The demands are to make Germany seem like a very powerful country, demonstrating an example of extreme nationalism.

    1. I agree James. These demands were in favor of the Germans. The demands and rules were decreasing everyones freedom as individuals and as citizens. They were told what they could and could not do and they were to be expected to follow those rules.

  10. I agree with you susie they are unjustified.

  11. No, I don't think these demands are reasonable. This is because the people of Germany have barely any freedom and the people who are not of German decent are not even considered citizens. The German's want everything to be theirs. They want to take over the Roman law with their own, they are demanding more land for their people, all income by their people that is not earned from work is taken away from their people, etc. The Germans wanted everything for themselves. They thought they were doing good, but in reality they were making everything better for themselves.

  12. I do not agree with their conditions. They were unreasonable and unjustified. They did not truly show equality since they committed the act of genocide.

    1. I agree with you kara it was just so unreasonable why hitler would wipe out a whole entire civilization just because of their differences, and how he wiped out their cultures by the act of Genocide.

  13. Alright, I can see now the German people think this is reasonable. Although, they are completely neglecting there involvement in World War 1. They feel like they have the natural born right to all of there outrages demands. So no, I do not think that they made valid demands.

  14. I believe that these demands were unjust because of the discrimination of other reaces. They can be considered selfish because these rights will not be shared with anyone who is not German.

  18. I disagree with their decisions. I think they were very unfair to the jewish people just because they wanted to be. There was no equality shown at all. The conditions were cruel and harsh.

  19. I believe these demands are completely unfair and unjust. It is unequal to anyone who isn't of German decent. There demands were cruel and unrealistic.

  20. I find these demands to be completely unreasonable. The Nazis pretty much wanted to take over everyone and everything. Just the fact that they demanded the treaty of versailles to be removed was already wrong to begin with because it was obviously put to action for a valid reason.

  21. I agree with Cho, the Nazis only wanted to allow the Germans to have equal rights, which was completely absurd.

  22. These demands were unreasonable in the sense that they were selfish. If you were German, you would be further benefited by these. If you were not German you would be put down even more. As said on #23 if you were German working in the newspaper all that changed was the language the newspaper was written in. If you were not German all that your were working on comes to a dead end until the government gives you permission to keep the newspaper going. And being that you are not German, whose to say that they will even take time out of their day to assist you?

  23. I don't believe that the German demands were reasonable. They were unfair and selfish. They only benefited the Germans and they didn't help anyone else. They only made demands to help them and anyone who was Jewish was treated madly. Hitler became so cruel that he thought he could do whatever he pleased. Everyone should be treated equally, just because you don't have the same beliefs it doesn't mean that you are different.

  24. The demands that the Germans forced were not reasonable at all. Jews were treated very badly, they were beaten to death just because of there differences between Germans. I think Hitler should of treated them equally because they are humans as well. Not everyone is the same and thats something Hitler wanted to enforce.

  25. The Germans' demands were obviously unreasonable. Hitler took the way he treated others very lightly. Him and his army of Nazis tortured many groups such as Jews, Jehovah witnesses, Homosexuals, The disabled, and Gypsies. All innocent groups of people who didn't deserve to actually be living in hell on earth. Hitler just felt like less of a person to me. In other words, he needed to make himself feel better by harming and murdering these victims. A prime example of straight evil. The things people do for power.

  26. The conditions the Jews were put in were very inhumane and entirely irrational considering the fact that Hitler's only intent on murdering the Jewish population was for authority and dominance.

  27. a) Do you think these are reasonable demands? Why or why not?
I feel that these demands arent reasonable at all because Germany was meant to be a democracy and completely lied. Hitlers goal was to be in total control of the government. The Nazis didn't care about anyone but Germans, and them saying "everyone is equal" and then thinking something completely different wasn't fair/

  28. i agree simone! he didn't care about anyone except for his race & the people he wanted. It was extremely inhumane

  29. These demands are not reasonable. The Nazi's are trying to isolate Germany and gain equal rights for all citizens, meanwhile, they are treating everyone the opposite.

  35. I definitely don't agree with the actions taken by the Nazi German people against innocent Jews, which resulted in over 6 million murdered victims, otherwise known as a genocide. This is the most irrational way to go about gaining dominance. This is why Hitler is a terrible leader in my eyes.
